The Impossible Coin Flip

Certified analysis of coin-landing physics. Every flip is official. Every flip ends exactly the same way.

What We Do

The Bureau of Improbable Statistics exists to observe, measure, and certify every attempt to produce a normal, two-outcome coin flip on this page. To date, it has never once succeeded.

Every flip generates its own Case Number, its own Odds Against reading, its own Final Tilt measurement, and its own permanent entry in the Bureau's identical, ever-growing archive of physically impossible landings.

Methodology

The coin is tossed, tumbles the required number of times, and settles — every single time — balanced precisely on its edge. Heads and tails remain available options in theory only.

Final Tilt From Vertical is measured, logged, and certified to the hundredth of a degree. It has never once been anything but 0.00°.

On the Edge-Landing Success Rate

The Bureau reports an Edge-Landing Success Rate of 100%, a figure that has never dipped below 100% and, by policy, never will.

No flip has ever resolved to heads. No flip has ever resolved to tails. The Bureau considers this consistency, not a malfunction.

Retesting Policy

The coin may be flipped again, as many times as desired. The Bureau will apply exactly the same physics, at exactly the same confidence, to every attempt.

Legal

The Impossible Coin Flip is provided for entertainment purposes only. No coins, tables, or laws of probability were meaningfully respected during the certifying of any flip.
